High Intensity Daily Personal Activities
Skilled support built around the individual
Some people need additional assistance with personal activities that involve more complex health-related needs.
Kangaroo Disability Services is registered to provide High Intensity Daily Personal Activities under NDIS registration group 0104. We provide respectful, reliable support shaped around each participant’s individual needs, preferences, routines and support plans.
Our priority is to help participants receive the support they need safely, while maintaining their dignity, choice and control.
High intensity supports available through KDS
Subject to each participant’s needs and KDS’s approved scope of registration, our team can provide support with:
- Complex bowel care – Support delivered in accordance with the participant’s individual bowel care plan.
- Enteral feeding and management – Assistance with enteral feeding in line with the participant’s nutrition and mealtime management plan.
- Severe dysphagia management – Mealtime support for participants with significant swallowing difficulties, following their individual dysphagia and mealtime management plan.
- Tracheostomy management – Support with tracheostomy and airway care according to the participant’s individual support plan.
- Urinary catheter management – Support with indwelling, in-out and suprapubic catheters.
- Subcutaneous injections – Assistance with prescribed subcutaneous medications in accordance with the participant’s medication plan.
- Complex wound management – Support provided in line with an individual wound care plan developed by an appropriately qualified health professional.
Trained workers and nursing support
Our registered nurses provide clinical guidance, direct care where required, and ongoing support to the workers delivering high intensity services.
Support workers receive training and competency assessment relevant to the individual participant and the supports they provide. They also have access to appropriate supervision and guidance.
Before support begins, we take the time to understand the participant’s:
- health and support needs
- preferences and daily routines
- current support and health management plans
- communication requirements
- risks and emergency procedures
- existing health professionals and support network
This helps us provide consistent support that fits naturally into the participant’s life.
Implementing behaviour support plans
KDS is registered and audited against Module 2A as an implementing provider.
This means our team can implement an existing behaviour support plan that contains regulated restrictive practices when required. These plans must be developed by an approved behaviour support practitioner and appropriately authorised.
KDS works with participants, families, behaviour support practitioners and other providers to implement plans consistently and support the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices wherever possible.
