Week 9 Cooking Program: Comfort Food Classics

This week’s class was all about comfort food – the kind that warms the heart and brings smiles all around!

As always, our day began with a delightful morning tea prepared by Chef Michelle. It’s the perfect time to gather, chat, and discuss the exciting plans for the day ahead. Once energized, we headed off to the supermarket. We’re proud to say our group is becoming pros at navigating the aisles, confidently selecting the freshest ingredients for our culinary creations.

Back in the kitchen, the magic truly began! This week, we made bakery-quality Shepherd’s Pies, packed with savory lamb mince and crowned with golden, cheesy mashed potatoes. To round out the meal, we added a side of perfectly cooked vegetables – a hearty and wholesome plate that hit all the right notes.

For dessert, we put a twist on an old-time classic: Bread and Butter Pudding. We couldn’t resist adding chocolate chips to the mix, and let’s just say – it was a huge hit!

Each week, our participants aren’t just mastering new cooking skills and techniques – they’re also forming connections and friendships over shared meals. It’s more than just a class; it’s an amazing experience and a truly wonderful day option activity.

Do you know someone who might enjoy this journey of cooking, learning, and bonding? Share this with them! New participants are always welcome, and you can join in anytime.

A big thank you to Josh for capturing the joy and deliciousness of our day with his fantastic photos.

Here’s to more food, fun, and friendships next week!
